VITA Tax Assistance Program:
“For years I paid out a portion of my income tax return to an accountant who filed my taxes for me. I had no idea how the tax system worked and didn’t think I could understand it even if I wanted to. I was content to collect my return, no matter how small, and be done with it. Then last year, one of my neighbors mentioned to me that she had her taxes done for free at New Life Corporation.”

She explained how trained volunteers assisted her in getting more money than when she paid to have it done. So this year, I went down to New Life and showed them my taxes. They helped me to understand the forms in a way that was simple and easy and how I qualified for additional money through the Earned Income Tax Credit. Thanks to the folks at New Life and the volunteers in the VITA program, I am getting more money returned to me than ever before!
